Alonzo “Lonnie” Mitchell Robinson, Jr. was born on December 30, 1948 in Orange, New Jersey to the late Alonzo, Sr. and Martha Hope Brown Robinson. Alonzo’s mother passed away at an early age, leaving his grandfather to raise him in Newark, New Jersey. He attended Barringer High School and graduated from Newark Tech in Newark.
Alonzo worked as a cabinet maker for many years at various places, including Jafeco in Woodbridge, New Jersey. He really enjoyed jazz and even began to learn how to play golf before his health started failing.
Alonzo was a practical man, who did not require much to be happy and loved family and friends. He was always trying to figure out how to work his smart phone, which he just had to have. He would always boast about how much he adored his two grandchildren, Tyler and Jason. His greatest joy was deciding what gifts would make them smile the most at Christmas time.
Alonzo really loved his wife of 15 years, Mary (Pat) and his children, Nicole (Nikki), Malcolm, Stepchildren, Marvin and Kenny. The holidays were always great when they were all together in celebration. In his later years, Alonzo resided in Whitehall, Pennsylvania and would always discuss the good times he had in his early years in Newark and Orange, New Jersey.
Alonzo leaves to cherish his memory:
Wife, Mary P. Robinson; Daughter, Nicole Wormsley; Son, Malcolm Robinson; Stepsons, Marvin and Kenny Smith
Grandchildren: Tyler Wormsley and Jason Smith
Daughters-in-law, Natalie and Ronica Smith and a host of relatives.
Alonzo was predeceased by his parents, Alonzo and Martha Robinson.
