Melvin (MC) Stewart, 73, passed away peacefully September 23, 2024. He was born November 18, 1950, to the late Melvin Stewart and Reverend Idonia Stewart. Born in Manhattan, NY in Harlem hospital. He was educated at Theodore Roosevelt school. After High school, he went off to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, achieving the rank of Specialist 4 (SP4). After his military service, he then went on to work at the United States Postal Service. He then later met his wife Cheryl Ann Stewart who preceded him in death, whom from that union he shares 5 children with.
Melvin dedicated his life to serving his country and his community. He will be remembered for his steadfast dedication to his family and strong sense of duty. He is survived by his beloved children and their spouses: Cheryl Stewart, Melvin Stewart, Monica Mendez, Sal Mendez, Mannie Stewart, Felicia Stewart and Shaiane Stewart & Kane McLeish. He is also survived by his pride and joy, his grandchildren: Nick, Charish, Amari, Nylah, Ava, Athena, CJ, Skye, Tatiana, Charli, Ox, Navi, Zen, Zoë, and Chi who brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by an army of cousins and his companion Edna Reid.
Melvin was preceded in death by both parents: Melvin and Idonia Stewart, Daughter Lavelle Stewart and beloved wife of 27 years Cheryl, who he can finally join hands with again.
