Obituary

Marion Alston entered this world on January 27, 1928 in Bethlehem, PA. She was the daughter of the late William Gunn, Sr. and Frances Potillo Gunn. She departed this life peacefully early Wednesday morning April 6, 2022, at her home in Bethlehem, PA. Marion was predeceased by her husband Clarence,  son Gregory Matt and grandson Jamar Matt.
Marion was educated in the Bethlehem area, graduating from Liberty High School in 1947. After High School she moved to Philadelphia where she attended and graduated from Apex Beauty School.
After living in the New England states for several years, Marion returned to her hometown in Bethlehem to be close to her family.  She worked at B. Braun for over twenty years before retiring.
Marion loved the Lord and was part of a local women’s group  “Bible Study Fellowship” for several years; she participated and hosted Bible Study groups at her home; and  she looked forward to attending Set Free Ministries "Time in The Word" each month. Marion enjoyed spending time with her family, and Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday. She loved to vacation on cruises and going to Virginia to spend time with extended family members.
Marion was the oldest member of  St. Paul Baptist Church in Bethlehem. For many years she sang in the Senior Choir, and was part of the Missionaries where she served in various roles. She enjoyed being involved in the Women's Ministry and loved the Tuesday morning Bible Study.
Marion was very gracious, caring and hospitable; and her home was where her family and friends gathered for holidays, family reunions, and spur of the moment cookouts.
She will be dearly missed by her children, Latif Matt (and daughter-in-law Roxanne Bonser) of Allentown, Barry Matt of Chesapeake, Virginia, Cynthia Matt of Bethlehem and Felecia White (and son-in-law  Kevin White) of Bethlehem, sister Bessie Maddox of Bethlehem, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and multiple friends.
Marion was loved by many and will be greatly missed!
