Lucia Riggins

Lucia Sims Riggins,83, of Allentown passed away Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Phoebe Terrace. She was born in Union, South Carolina to the late James and Ethel (Maddox) Sims.

Lucia graduated from Bennett College in Greensboro, North Carolina with a B.A. Degree and New York University with a M.A. Degree in Special Education. She retired from the Allentown School District after 42 years in Education. Lucia began teaching in her hometown of Union, South Carolina before moving to New York where she worked in the public schools. There she met and married the late Dr. Gene Riggins. Several years later they relocated to this area.

Lucia was past President of Women Unlimited and received service awards from The Unity Center and This Is Your Life Association. She was a member of St. James A.M.E. Zion Church, Bennett College National Alumnae Association, Upper Bucks Senior Center and was serving on the Board of Quakertown Chapter 3377 AARP.

Survivors: daughter, Rhonda Korr; son, Antonio Riggins both of East Greenville, PA; grandson, Grayson Riggins of Hereford, PA and a host of family and friends.

Memorial Service: 11:00 am Saturday, May 17th at St. James A.M.E. Zion Church located at 410 West Union Street, Allentown 18102
