Jorge Velez was born on July 13,1956 in Llamas, Puerto Rico to his late parents, Mr. & Mrs. Velez. Jorge had a wonderful childhood which he happily shared with his older brother. He was motivated and graduated from high school in Puerto Rico.
At the age of 18 Jorge and his older brother moved to New Jersey. There he made a small life as a future assembler. Then he met Mindy and they created a family, including two beautiful children that he cared for and catered to for 12 years.
In 1984 Jorge met his lifelong companion, Maria Suncar, and her three children. He stepped up for them and built a home, caring and catering to them, as well. In 1986 when Jorge entered our lives, Maria’s children, he was a man who knew what he wanted. He was a hard worker and was determined to make Maria happy. He worked long hours for years to save money to get what was needed. Jorge had many positions in life, but he was best at being a lifelong companion, a father, a loving grandfather, and caring person. He made sure his home and family were always good. He would do anything for anyone. He was a very social person who loved to socialize and be around family and friends.
Jorge fought a long battle with diabetes and a heart condition, but what he could not take was his lungs filling with fluid. He did everything he could before being called home so abruptly to join his beloved Maria. He is beyond missed-the last piece that held us together as long as he could. SurvivorsHe leaves behind loving memories: daughters, Jessica Rodriguez, Aimee Almonte and Priscilla Acosta; sons, Lenin Suncar and Jose Velez; grandchildren, Joseph Ortiz, Gregory Suncar, Jathalie Almonte, Arnez and Avery Acosta, Naseem Humphrey; great-grandchildren, Samaya Torres and Ja’Nyla Ortiz; and a host of friends that were more like family.
