On Monday, September 5, 2022 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Fountain Hill, PA, John Thomas Baker went home to be with the Lord. He was born May 1, 1943 in Bethlehem, PA. He was the son of the late John T. Baker Sr., of New York, NY and the late Pauline (Humphrey) Grant of Bethlehem, PA.
John was educated in the Bethlehem area, graduating from Liberty High School Class of 1960. After High School he served in the US Army for several years and left with an Honorable Discharge.
He worked at Billiford Construction, Bethlehem, PA as a Finisher; Hoffman’s Caterer as a waiter and later as a cook in Allentown, PA; he also was a cook at St. Bernards Home of the Good Samaritan and Tally Ho of Bethlehem/
John was a member of Church of God and Prophecy, Gibsontown, NC, he served as President of the CVA Club, Bethlehem, PA in addition to being a member of Bethel Lodge # 1284 I.B.P.O. Elks of the World, Bethlehem, PA. He was also a member of the Saint Bernard’s Home of the Good Samaritan where he served as President of the Social Club and various other positions.
John was also a Founding Member of the International Mason and Eastern Stars, Cedar Lodge #056. John was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Armelda Baker, Father, John T. Baker, Sr., Mother, Pauline (Humphrey) Grant, Brother, Gregory Grant and Step Grandson, Corey McDowell.
John leaves to celebrate his life and cherished memories with two sons, John Brown (Philadelphia) and Jason Thomas Baker (Bethlehem, PA), two stepsons, Harold Thomas (Caton, NC) and Woodward Thomas (Tiana Thomas) Bethlehem, PA. Two brothers, George Grant (Coatesville, PA) and Paul Grant (Bethlehem, PA) and one sister, Paulette Brantley (Bethlehem, PA) and a host of loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins
