Hiram Green Obituary

 

On Monday, April 13, 2020 , Hiram Josephus Green of Allentown, PA went to be with the Lord. He was 86 years old. He was born on January 12, 1934 in Braddock, PA and grew up in Rankin, Pennsylvania.  He was the 3rd of six children born to the late Josephus and Rosa Green.

 

He accepted the Lord at an early age and was a member of Calvary A.M.E in Braddock, Pennsylvania.

 

After graduating from Scott High School, he joined the United States Army where he was in the Transportation Division.  After completing three years of service, he enrolled in Penn Technical Institute and received a diploma in Computer Technology. Prior to that he worked for Mine Safety in Wilkinsburg, PA and Milligan Brick in Wilkinsburg as a bricklayer.

 

He was united in Holy Matrimony to Ella F. Hamlin on December 27, 1958.  Three children were born of this union; Carol Elaine Green, Laura Elizabeth Green and Jeffrey Green.

 

He began working for Bunker Ramo in Pittsburgh, PA and was later relocated to Queens, NY, Philadelphia, PA, Bethlehem, PA and finally settling in Allentown, PA.  He enjoyed fishing, attending Drum and Bugle Corp shows, listening to Jazz music, and watching sports. 

 

He retired from Bunker Ramo in 1999 where he worked as a Computer Field Technician.

 

He was predeceased by his wife Ella F. Hamlin, parents Josephus and Rosa Green, brothers, Norman, Thomas, Herbert and sister Victoria.

 

He leaves to cherish his memory, Daughters Carol Green and husband Allen Lewis of Conyers, GA, Laura Green and husband Enrique Romero of Carrollton, TX and son Jeffrey of Berlin, NJ, Sister Dorothy Booker. There are four grandchildren; Rachael and Cameron Lewis, Allen and Nicolle Green, many nieces nephews, spanning 6 generations and other family members and friends.

Ella F. Green was laid to rest at Cedar Hill Memorial Park, 1700 Airport Road, Allentown, PA 18109

Hiram J. Green was laid to rest at Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Indiantown Gap Road, Annville, PA 17003
