Desiree Pate-Peterson Obituary

Minister Desiree Pate-Peterson transitioned from labor to reward on March 2nd, 2020. She was preceded in death by her mother Barbara Pate and her grandmother Nona Leona Daniels.

Born January 30, 1961, her own education began in local schools in Brooklyn, New York, and ended with several degrees including: Bachelors in Professional Studies & Human Services- Metropolitan College of New York, Master of Business Administration- University of Phoenix, and Master of Social Work- Kutztown University.

Desiree’s passion was giving back to her family and her community. As such, her chosen professions were that of the Human Services field. She spent decades advocating, caring, and servicing displaced youth  while filling in leadership roles at Coalition for the Homeless in Manhattan, New York, Boys & Girls Town in Brooklyn, New York, Covenant House in Newark New Jersey, and finally, NHS of Lehigh Valley in Allentown, Pennsylvania. In addition to giving back to her community, Desiree was a devoted, loving wife and mother to all of her children- two sons and three daughters.

Desiree committed her heart to the Lord September 17, 1991 and devoted herself to serving her church while pressing to live a holy, faith based life. She became a licensed minister at Heaven on Earth, New York, by elder Jimmy Wren, as well as Citadel of Praise & Worship, New York, under Pastor Kevin Bond. After Desiree transitioned from New York to Pennsylvania, she served as a minister at Liberty Worship Center, Allentown PA, under Pastor D.E Wright. Desiree later joined Resurrected Life Community Church under Dr. Gregory Edwards where she, her husband, and her children served on various ministries.  She was a sharp, intelligent God-fearing woman with a warm, compassionate spirit. She was instrumental in bringing several people, including many of her own family members, to Christ. Her smile lit up any room she walked into. In any situation, she would find a reason to laugh and have joy in her sprit. An avid member of the prayer team, Desiree always had an encouraging scripture, prayer, or hug to give to anyone who was willing to accept. Desiree was a studious go-getter who had unwavering faith and positive outlook.  She passed this outlook on to all her children and grandchildren and spread an unselfish love until the day she transitioned from this life.

This family matriarch, humble servant, and loving mother and friend leaves many to smile, remember, and to cherish her faithful  journey:  Father and spiritual counselor, Curtis Daniels (Laverne), stepmother Lillie Daniels, husband, Altonya Peterson, former husband, Gregory Brodie, children Renee Pate, Malcolm Brodie, Miles Brodie, Makeva Brodie, Mia Brodie. Grandchildren include Ladwaune Edwards and Imani Desiree Norman. Siblings include Brothers Donald Pate, Richard Ford-Daniels, and Demos Daniels and sisters Crystal Flowers and Nina Daniels along with a host of nephews, nieces, wonderful cousins and dear friends.
