Candy Lee Gray (nee; Strausser) was born Feburary11th, 1972 to William and Catherine Strausser in Reading PA. Candy’s life was tragically cut short on October 9th, 2021, in a house fire at her and her husband’s residence in Shillington PA. At the young age of 49 Candy is survived by her beloved husband Albert Gray, her two daughters Brittany Messersmith and Bethany Barrientos (nee; Messermith). Candy is also survived by her three grandsons Alexander, Elijah and Lucian and her three siblings Pepper Troop, Randy Strausser, and Wendy Shade.
Candy excelled at anything she put her mind to, she was adaptable and inquisitive. She never let anything keep her down. Candy battled many demons, and she won that war. Candy was affectionately called the Cat Lady by her grandchildren. She would feed all the neighborhood strays and outside cats. One of the young kittens needed medical attention. Candy brought her in and named her Looney Luna Lovegood after one of her favorite Harry Potter characters. She brought the little kitten back to health and they were inseparable. Unfortunately, the sweet little kitty passed with Candy in the fire.
As mother she is remembered as fun and protective. She encouraged her daughters to play instruments and instilled a love of reading. Candy loved the holiday season and made an extra special time for all her loved ones. She loved decorating, baking, and listening to festive songs.
Candy loved her friends and family deeply and she will be missed and loved for all of time. Fly high and rest in peace.
