Barbara Sonya Lee, 82 was born to Millicent Lovell and Joseph Kirkaldy in Colon, Republic of Panama, on November 3, 1941. She immigrated to the United States in 1966 with her husband Quentin Lee. As a military spouse, she traveled within the U.S. and overseas, retiring in Olympia, Washington where she was employed with The Army and Air Force Exchange Services (AAFES) for over 35 years.
Her biggest passion was retail, where she enjoyed antiquing and visiting garage sales. She loved attending Turning Point Church in Olympia, Washington, bible study, reading, going to the movie theatre and doing volunteer work.
One of her favorite verses that she repeated often was:
"But my God shall supply all your needs, according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:19)
She was preceded in death by one brother: Alfred Lovell and leaves behind 6 siblings, Virginia C. Ashley, Hyacinth A. Dudley, Dolores C. Greenwood, Charles A. Lovell, Gloria R. Archibald, Beverly M. Francis, one child; Angelica Charlton; two grandchildren, Warren Charlton and Akeyla Brewster; 8 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great grandchildren; her close and dear friend of many years, Alma, and a very large host of family and friends.
She shared a special saying with her grandson, Warren, "Count your blessings, not your problems", which they would remind each other often.
