Norman Weathers was born on April 16, 1946 in Hazelhurst, Georgia. He was the fourth of ten children born to Vivian and Stanley Weathers. He was educated in the Hazelhurst Public School System. Norman and his family relocated to Newark, New Jersey in 1965.
Norman loved to sing and was passionate about music. In his younger years, he was a member of The Mighty Royal Travelers gospel group opening for gospel greats like Shirley Caesar, The Mighty Clouds of Joy and many others. Norman worked at several bakeries throughout various areas in New Jersey later being known as a great baker himself. In 1980, he became an entrepreneur, owning his own business, DuraCare Enterprise, giving employment opportunities to friends and family. Above all, he was enthusiastic on teaching individual’s entrepreneurship and the importance of your own monetary value.
Norman was one to always keep those around him fed and laughing. He was a humble man who saw the best in those encounters through his passion for cooking. He always enjoyed and loved having family gatherings where he would cook plenty of food and welcomed all who came.
He was preceded in death by his parents Vivian and Stanley Weathers; siblings, Stanley Weathers Jr., Elzora Miller, Sharon Weathers, Rhonda Taylor and Larry Weathers.
On Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at 11:20am, Norman took his last breath surrounded by his loved ones. He leaves to cherish his memory; his wife Patricia Weathers of 18 years; six daughters, Marcia Weathers, Jacqueline Nusom (Darnell), Janice Weathers, Pamela Weathers Underhill, Jeanette Knight (Derrick) and Tanya Dykes; one son, Jamie Sims (Liska); three sisters, Shirley Robinson (Randolph), Vivian Fedrick (Bob), Glenda Neblett (Greg); one brother Oscar Weathers (Veronica); fourteen grandchildren Andrei, Ashlei, Dajah, Britnee, Brandon, Kyanna, Talitha, Deasia, Jahmier, Nicole, Jeremiah, Victoria, Dallas, Desman; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
